Healthy Carrot Rasam Recipe

Carrot Rasam

Carrot Rasam is a south Indian rasam made from tamarind and carrot with mild masalas. 

  • 2 Carrots
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek Seeds
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 4 Green Chillies
  • 10-15 grams Tamarind
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 7-8 Garlic Cloves
  • 4-5 Pepper
Tempering Seeds
  • 2 Dried Chillies
  • 1/2 cup Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  1. The amount of turmeric powder used is upto your taste.

Recipe Notes

Fry 2 teaspoons coriander seeds in pan

Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds and fry

Add pepper and cut off the stove

Add the fried seeds to a mixie jar

Add carrot pieces, 7-8 garlic cloves, tomato pieces, tamarind and grind it into a paste

Let's prepare rasam now

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in pan

Add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, 2 dried chillies 


Add curry laves and fry

Add green chillies and fry

Add turmeric powder and mix

Add prepared paste and mix

Close lid and cook for 3-4 minutes

Add water till required consistency is obtained

Add 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 2 teaspoons salt and mix

Simmer for 10-12 minutes

Sprinkle coriander leaves and cut off the stove

Serve with steaming rice!
